Science at Crockham Hill:
Subject Leaders: Mrs S Manson
Link Governor: Mr J Fisher
Vision:
At Crockham Hill CE Primary School, we recognise the importance of science in developing pupils’ understanding of the world and preparing them for life in an increasingly scientific and technological society. As a core subject, science is given a high priority within our curriculum.
Our science curriculum is designed to build secure knowledge and understanding of scientific concepts, while developing pupils’ ability to work scientifically through enquiry, investigation and critical thinking. We foster pupils’ natural curiosity, encourage respect for living organisms and the physical environment, and promote the careful evaluation of evidence.
Through high-quality teaching, pupils progressively develop the scientific skills needed to ask questions, make predictions, observe, test ideas and draw conclusions. As a result, pupils leave Crockham Hill CE Primary School with a strong foundation in scientific knowledge, a positive attitude towards science, and the confidence to apply their learning in future contexts.
