Spirit of Football winners! Sevenoaks 5-aside Football Tournament
On Friday 22nd November a very young but eager team took part in the Sevenoaks 5-aside tournament. The tournament was for Year 6 and Year 5. Our team comprised 3 Year 5s and 4 Year 4s! We were awarded the Spirit of Football trophy and Rory was named our team’s Player of the Tournament. Well done to the whole team.
Beau was clearly man of the match in our first match against Weald making some exceptional saves!
Our second match was against Amherst (the eventual winners) who were a very large, physical side compared to us. Amherst is also a 3-form entry Junior school so they have a far greater pool of players to select from.
After a team talk from Coach Jameson we regrouped and played against St Lawrence. Everyone’s performance improved and after awesome running from Rory and great resilience he scored two goals in quick succession!
Next we played a strong team from Dunton Green but just couldn’t get the ball in to the goal!
We then played St John’s. More super saves from Beau, a near miss from Jules and then Harry M amazed the crowd with a goal direct from the half way line!
Finally we met Lady Boswell’s – another large school. We managed to save a penalty due to great team work from Daniel, Harry C and Jules in the wall and Beau and Harry M on the line.
Thank you to all the parents who supported the children and particularly to Mr Jameson for coaching the team. I was so proud of the children for showing resilience and aspiration to keep going even when the opposition was much older and stronger.
