  • Netball Match     Crockham Hill v  Hever

    Tue 26 Nov 2019

On Thursday 7th November we played Hever at home.

The match against Hever was fun. Evie L and Sophia played Goal Attack and Goal Shooter in the first half scoring many goals. Crockham Hill's communication was brilliant!! The ball was constantly  on our side of the court thanks to the amazing team work.

The second half was easier as we got used to playing as a team. The ball kept on going out of the court as Hever were really trying to bump up the score. The people who were on the side lines were still cheering their team mates on, which created a good atmosphere. Beau and Daniel worked really well together and talked to each other using tactics. Mrs Rose was about to give the ball to us when one of our players said that they tapped it out so Crockham Hill were still being honest even though they wanted to win. Goals and goals were flooding in and in the last few seconds the 24th one was scored We cheered for Hever and they did the same for us to say well done.

As the game ended, the other netballers prepared drinks and biscuits for the players of the match. Everyone loved the little treat!

The first victory for Crockham Hill and definitely not the last!! Thank you to parents for supporting and to Mrs Rose for coaching us.

  • Crockham Hill v Four Elms netball

    Tue 26 Nov 2019

Score: Crockham Hill 5 – 2 Four Elms

The netball match was a really fun experience but a cold one! Four Elms were a very good challenge with tall players. We played amazingly but the other team had a very good defence. By the end of the first quarter we were drawing 1 – 1. Luckily, our team were incredibly tactical because the ball was always in our half. For the next quarter, Crockham Hill were trying to score as many goals as possible because the second half is easier and we get used to the larger court, playing with each other as a team and our communication gets better. As it got darker, everyone started to get tired but we carried on. By the end of the last quarter, we had scored 5 goals but Four Elms continued to put up a good fight.

We cheered for each other as usual and our opposition offered us lovely biscuits, which we all enjoyed!

    Another victory for Crockham Hill!!

  • Spirit of Football winners! Sevenoaks 5-aside Football Tournament

    Tue 26 Nov 2019

On Friday 22nd November a very young but eager team took part in the Sevenoaks 5-aside tournament. The tournament was for Year 6 and Year 5. Our team comprised 3 Year 5s and 4 Year 4s! We were awarded the Spirit of Football trophy and Rory was named our team’s Player of the Tournament. Well done to the whole team.

Beau was clearly man of the match in our first match against Weald making some exceptional saves!

Our second match was against Amherst (the eventual winners) who were a very large, physical side compared to us. Amherst is also a 3-form entry Junior school so they have a far greater pool of players to select from.

After a team talk from Coach Jameson we regrouped and played against St Lawrence. Everyone’s performance improved and after awesome running from Rory and great resilience he scored two goals in quick succession!

Next we played a strong team from Dunton Green but just couldn’t get the ball in to the goal!

We then played St John’s. More super saves from Beau, a near miss from Jules and then Harry M amazed the crowd with a goal direct from the half way line!

Finally we met Lady Boswell’s – another large school. We managed to save a penalty due to great team work from Daniel, Harry C and Jules in the wall and Beau and Harry M on the line.

Thank you to all the parents who supported the children and particularly to Mr Jameson for coaching the team. I was so proud of the children for showing resilience and aspiration to keep going even when the opposition was much older and stronger.

  • Planting our seeds in the rich Crockham Hill soil

    Tue 19 Nov 2019

Thank you to our Year 6 children who planned and led a very special worship today.

The group revealed our new school prayer and illustrated how it stems from our school vision, the parable of the sower of the seeds and our school values.

What a symbolic moment it was when the whole school, joined by members of the Church and some parents, scattered wild flower seeds in front of the school.

if you are a parent or member of our school community and would like to add a few seeds yourself, please pop along to the office to collect some.

We now have to wait and watch them flourish!

  • Key Stage 1 Multi Sports competition

    Mon 18 Nov 2019

On Wednesday 13th November our team of Key Stage 1 children competed in a Multi Sports competition at Weald Primary.

The children did really well and I saw great improvement from last year when we participated.

Well done to whole team who came 3rd.

  • Ashdown Prep Year 3 and 4 Football 5th November 2019

    Mon 18 Nov 2019

    Champions again!

Jules (Captain), Harry C (Vice captain), Rory, Jake, Harry M, Harry G, Alex P and James M took part in an under 9 football tournament (although some teams had older players).

They played some wonderful football, with great resilience, aspiration, energy and teamwork. Our first game was a comfortable 2 – 0 win, as was our second.  In the third match we totally dominated strolling to a 3 – 0 victory.

In our final match the opposition finally had a shot on our goal.  However, James “Banks” pulled of a stunning save.  Then we eventually scored but were denied victory when a goal mouth scramble led to us conceding a goal.  A 1 -1 draw was the final result.

Overall, we were worthy champions.  Whilst all the children did brilliantly a special mention to Rory who never stops running and scored a fantastic header and Jules who made some stunning passes and scored an incredible goal which I don’t think the keeper saw.

  • Cross Country at Ashdown Prep 11th October 2019

    Mon 18 Nov 2019

24 children took part from years 2-6. All the children showed great resilience and aspiration and ran their hearts out.

Well done to Jules who finished 2nd, Harry C 5th and our Junior team members who won the team event out of 7 schools.

Well done also to our Year 2s who ran in a Year 3/4 race: Lillie (our first girl finisher), and Rosie and charlie who completed a challenging course.

In the Senior event (Years 5 and 6) Daniel and Harry H had a great battle and Evelyn and Aneira put in strong performances. Beau deserves a mention because whatever sport he tries he always gives his best and that's all a child can do.

  • Football Tournament

    Fri 15 Nov 2019

    Brambletye Football Tournament

    Friday 15th November Years 3 and 4

Played on a damp and gloomy afternoon the conditions were a real challenge.  In addition, it was our first tournament on Astro – turf.

In the first match we played St Peters and by half – time despite dominating possession incredibly we were 2-0 down.  A change of players and positions saw an amazing fight back with us winning 3-2.  Music from the Great Escape was suddenly an ear-worm for me.

Our second game was against the hosts A – Team.  We were up against “A school of Giants.” Although small in stature we were the far better team in a tight 0-0 draw.

In our third game we had a comfortable 3-0 over Baldwins Hill and finished top of our group on goals scored.

The semi – final was another close affair 0-0, against Halsford Park, a large two form entry school in East Grinstead. Unlike England we managed a 5-4 penalty shoot-out win.  My ear – worm was now under pressure.

In near darkness we played the host's A – team again.  We were 1-0 down at half – time and then pressed for an equaliser being caught out on the break.  Brambletye deserved their 2-0 win as they were the better team in the final.  However, my final ear – worm of the day was “Simply the best by Tina Turner,” as the boys played their hearts out and I am always proud of how our school teams always do their best.
