School Lunches

Pupils can have either a school meal or bring their own packed lunch.

We aim to be a nut free school for the children, and parents are asked to ensure that packed lunches are also nut free so that we can support our children with nut allergies. For example, no peanut butter sandwiches.

We benefit from school meals cooked on site to a high quality and have maintained a 5 star health and hygiene rating for the school kitchen. Parents are welcome to try school meals if they wish and we usually offer a 'try a meal' day to new Reception families on entry to the school.

All pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a daily free school meal as part of the government's current Unversal Free School Meal offer but other pupils in Years 3 to 6 need to pay for their meal unless parents have applied for and been given free school meal status. We encourage all parents who think they may qualify for free school meals to apply as this can trigger additional funding to support children's learning. For more information please see below.

PaymentPayment for school meals may be made weekly or termly, online through ParentMail, or by cash or cheque to the school office. Please enclose all payments for the office in a sealed envelope labelled with your child’s name. If you wish to pay by cheque, please make the cheque payable to:

‘KCC Crockham Hill School’

Weekly payments should be received every Monday morning. If paying termly, payment should be made on the first day of term.

Applying for free school meals Parents who are in receipt of Income Support, Income-based Job Seekers Allowance, Guaranteed Element of Pension Credit or Child Tax Credit are encouraged to apply for Free School Meals. Application forms are available from the school office on request.
