Netball Tournaments
Sun 31 Mar 2019Congratulations to all the children who took part in the Edenbridge District Schools' Netball Tournaments. Netball is very popular at Crockham Hill so we were able to take 2 teams to both tournaments. Our first team won the Year 3-4 tournament and we were runners up in the Year
5-6 tournament, being narrowly defeated in the last 20 seconds. Our second teams played
brilliantly considering they had not played competitively before. All the children enjoyed the experience and showed such sportsmanship. Thank you to parents for coming to support and to Mr Jervis, Mrs Ingman and Mrs Hall for coaching.

PTA AGM Tuesday 19th March 7pm - There will be wine!
Wed 13 Mar 2019Please join us in the school hall at 7pm.. We are going to be electing new co-chairs and approve a new Constitution.
All parents and carers are members of the PTA. The group's main function is to fund raise for the school but we also like to plan events to bring the school community together. We'd like to know what you think and we'd like to invite more parents to get involved. You don't have to give up lots of your time. If you can help in a small way we'd like to hear from you.
We look forward to seeing you next week.

Zehra Hicks - Author and Illustrator - inspires children during Book Week 2019
Sun 10 Mar 2019On Friday 8th March we continued celebrating the written word with a visit from author/illustrator Zehra Hicks. She told us about how she became and author and then let us in to the secret life of an author: where she gets her inspiration from; how her original ideas may be tweaked by her publisher; how many illustrations she does before the real thing; using twigs and ink; how she lays out the page of words and illustrations; how she adds colour on the computer; how her books are translated in to other languages.
We were then very lucky because she read her new book to us but because it isn't going to be published until next February it is TOP SECRET!!
We spent time in class workshops writing and illustrating stories inspired by Zehra's books.

C-Hill with a Book 2019
Sun 10 Mar 2019This week we have been celebrating and immersing ourselves in the wonder of the written word!
Each class took one of Roald Dahl's books to explore over the 5 days. The school was splattered with illustrations of Roald Dahl characters for the children to spot and identify which story they came from. Classes arranged shared reading sessions which always prove popular because the children love getting together to read books with each other.
On Thursday we celebrated World Book Day and the children and staff came to school dressed as their favourite book character. Mrs Ingman couldn't pass up the opportunity to come as Miss Trunchbull! Many others embraced our Roald Dahl theme too so we had Fantastic Mr Foxes, wicked Witches, many Matildas, two Miss Trunchbulls and copious characters from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; Charlies, Willy Wonkers, Violet Beauregardes, Oompa-Loompas etc. Holly even came AS the chocolate factory!
We celebrated other authors too - J K Rowling was popular and Liz Pichon who wrote Tom Gates (who coincidentally won The Roald Dahl Funny Prize!)
At our Book Day assembly children paraded and later prizes were awarded for best costumes. Congratulations to Holly, Jayden, Samuel and Audrey. Finally the winners of the Book Review competition and Book Reading competition were announced.- Evie , Lydia, Lois and Sienna - and they got their chance to sludge a teacher. There was a unanimous cry for Miss Trunchbull (aka Mrs Ingman) to be sludged!
