Severe weather or emergencies

Guidance in the event of severe weather or an emergency

We make every effort to keep the school open in the event of severe weather or an unforeseen emergency. We recognise the knock on effects that a school closure can have on parents, particularly those who are key workers in other areas of the public sector. However where, despite our best efforts, we cannot offer a safe site or facilities we may need to close fully or in part. Please be assured that we will not take this decision lightly.

How do we let parents know what is happening?

We will:

Put a message on the Home page of our website.

Send a ParentMail detailing changes to our normal procedures or operation.

Put notices of closure or changes from normal on kent closures site. Parents can register for free email alerts or can receive text alerts for a charge.

Parents can hear about school closures by listening to KMFM, BBC Radio Kent or Heart FM.

This website www.kent.gov.uk/winter gives information about salting routes, travel issues and affected KCC services.

What could your child do if they are not able to come into school?

1. See if there are any suggestions on your child’s Seesaw class page from their teacher.

2. Use it as a chance to catch up with any homework tasks.

3. Visit TT Rock Stars.

4. Read, read, read!

5. Get outside and build a snow creation, take a photograph and write an adventure about their creation. Get your child to bring it to school and share it with us on their return to school.
