WW2 Day

This term in History, Year 6 have been learning about the Second World War, with a particular focus on what life was like for people on the home front. They have explored how the war began, the experiences of evacuees, the impact of the Blitz and the vital role of women during the war.
As part of their learning, the children took part in a special immersion day. They came to school dressed in 1940s-style clothing, enjoyed a visit from John with his Second World War desert jeep, and visited the Weald House memorial on the green in Crockham Hill.
The children have also been researching their own family histories in relation to the war. They have shared stories, photographs and artefacts with their classmates, which has greatly enriched their understanding of this important period in history.
